lyrics

I caught a fire in my left hand,
slowly felt it burn away.
Oh, how it burned away.
I caught a fire in my brain,
slowly watched it turn to gray.
That's my favorite shade.

And it's clear that my life is a cave.
I feel a little lost when I'm not writing.
And my hand, it burns as bright as day,
casting shadows on the walls I've made face.

I got a beer with my best friends,
slowly felt it slip away,
and how it slips away.
Got a beer in the morning.
I had to laugh at how good it tastes.
My, how good you taste.

But without my walls, I feel like I am nothing
and this weight can get to crushing me.
Well, just to think that all that I have built
could be torn between you and me...

I caught in my throat,
and slowly felt it move away,
and how it moved away
through my chest to my left hand.
I guess I'll watch it burn away.
Man, I hope she stays,

'cuz it's clear that my life is a cave.
I feel a little lost when she's not with me.
And, my hand, it still burns as bright as day
casting shadows, oh, I hope I can save my face.

Oh no.

Caught a fire in my brain,
slowly felt it turn to gray
and that's my favorite shade.

about

Leftmore Denver, Colorado

Leftmore is an indie acoustic rock act from Colorado, started in 2005 by Matthew Shaw and Joe Ziegler. Joe went solo from late in 2009 to early in 2014, one part story-teller, one part emotive melody, and at least one part human. Matt rejoined with Chris Doxtator on drums and Geoff Brent on bass guitar. The lineup now vacillates between the solo, duo, and quartet conditionally based on time-space. ... more
